Take a photo of your self in a hoodie and post it on this wall.
This event has no actual end date.
This event will continue to be rolled forward beyond the current date showing, and will end the day there is justice for Trayvon Martin.
This event was scheduled to begin Saturday, March 24, 2012, and has now been rolled forward to March 31, 2012 due to issues with the "Invite Friends" button disappearing once the event date has been reached, as well as making it impossible for people to post their hoodie pics.
So, before the date showing here is reached, it will be moved forward again so all can continue to invite others and share pics, thoughts, support and friendship.
The point of this event is for solidarity on behalf of Trayvon Martin, and to bring together the social community in ending racial stereotyping and acts of violence against all people based on those presumptions of guilt.
No matter the age, nor the color of anyone's skin, we are one race, one people.
Please join and share this event with your friends by using the Invite Friends button at the top right corner of this page.
If you choose to not share a photo of yourself in a hoodie, please feel free to leave a comment, or just the word "Hoodie!", in showing your solidarity in support of seeking justice for Trayvon Martin.

***PLEASE NOTE that the rule I have posted does not mean we cannot have civil discourse or disagree with each other.

Please PM me or one of the other hosts if you think you see a problem, and we will take care of it.
I would greatly appreciate it if you, as a participant, do not engage in conversation with anyone who appears to be trolling as this only encourages them to continue or to possibly return under a different Facebook identity should they be deleted from this event.

Occupy Boulder: Call to ACTION, #m31
American Spring Mass Rally 3/31
When: Saturday March 31st at 11AM.
Where: Rally at corner of Broadway and Canyon followed by a march through downtown and the Pearl St Mall to the Old County Courthouse.
Who: The 99%
RSVP on Facebook
This Spring we’ll watch as genetically engineered crops bloom on the open space lands we own, and voted to protect; but we’re unable to.
This Spring we’ll watch as frack holes spew toxins into our air only a few hundred yards from where our children play. This Spring we'll shudder as the immigrants among us are exploited, de-humanized, and blamed for our failing American Dream.
This Spring we’ll continue to see our neighbors homes stolen from them by an openly fraudulent banking system where the house always wins.
This Spring we’ll once again fear the shock and awe of our mighty military. We’ll lay awake fearing the terror of the fog of war. We'll witness and challenge the rising militarization of police forces deployed against this rising movement for true Democracy.
For too long the forces of the 1% have divided us and run roughshod over our rights. The dominant economic and political system have turned democracy into a hoax that only covers the thirst for money and power of a handful of individuals. We pay taxes for services we never see and rail systems never built and “they” ask us for more every year. We’re made to pay higher fees, and they pay themselves higher salaries. Our equity crumbles and their bonuses double. We sweat to pay our debts and the Federal Reserve Bank just makes more money out of thin air and passes that money to the too-big-to-fail banks who park those low interest government loans in higher interest yielding accounts. We are expected to watch as we pay for a recovery for those who wrecked the system, even as they deride the so called class warfare being waged against them. The 99% are not a class, they are the we in we the people.
Today the people must stand together in solidarity. Together the voices of the 99% will be so loud that the bought-out politicians and their corporate handlers can’t help but hear and respond.
The time has come to turn the page and move to a new phase of history. The American people are awakening, Boulder is awakening. Join us on March 31st as we kick off the American Spring in Boulder with an 11AM rally at corner of Broadway and Canyon followed by a march through downtown and the Pearl St Mall to the Old County Courthouse.

Call to Colorado: Statewide PEACE Conference: NO war on Iran.
Initial Call for a Colorado Statewide Peace Conference to Oppose Attacking Iran
MARCH 15, 2012(note: This is an initial call for the conference. It is meant mostly for people living in Colorado; but hopefully those of you living elsewhere might do likewise)______________________________Call for a Statewide Peace Conference to Oppose Attacking IranDear Friends,The cry for an attack on Iran has reached unprecedented, near-hysterical proportions in certain well known quarters.Like the period before the attack on Iraq, many of the same themes are at play with many of the same players trying to drive our country to war again: creating or greatly exaggerating a threat; vilifying the country’s leadership to suggest that they are `crazy’ and capable of anything; the pliant media that swallow pro-war propaganda and spit it out as truth.Far from preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, an attack would justify their pursuit and will in all probability trigger a regional if not world war, in anticipation of which oil prices have spiked and threaten to a global recession if not worse. Our elected representatives both in the Oval Office and in Congress who succumb to this propaganda are complicit in dragging us once again down the path to death and destruction as they have in Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and Somalia. We must stop this madnessWith this in mind, the Colorado Coalition Against Attacking Iran was formed recently with representatives from Boulder, Ft. Collins and the Denver Metro Area. The Coalition is already active:One of our first steps is to organize a conference on Saturday, May 12, at the First Unitarian Society of Denver Church (14th and Lafayette) in Denver from 9 am to 5 pm. The goal is to organize a Colorado statewide campaign to oppose attacking Iran and for re-orienting our country’s priorities toward rebuilding our fragmented and devastated communities. (Detailed program will follow)We, the undersigned, long-time Colorado peace activists, endorse this conference and urge you to help build the conference and the campaign to stop yet another insane step toward the abyss. Please contact the Coalition to invite speakers to your area or organization to build the Conference and Campaign. You can contact the coalition at:or contact:Tom Mayer: Thomas.Mayer@Colorado.Edu Ibrahim Kazerooni: mikazerooni@gmail.com Rob Prince: robertjprince@comcast.net Yours,Ida AudehClair CafaroStuart ChaseCheryl DistasoBill and Genie DurlandNancy FeyRon ForthoferAlan GilbertNader HashemiPat HewettIbrahim KazerooniBob KinseyLeslie LomasTom MayerLeRoy MooreRob PrinceMichael RabbTom RauchKen and Mag SeamanCheryl StevensonDoug VaughanErnesto VigilEvan WeissmanDan WintersPhil Woods

Action Alert: Bill 1271: Limit Prosecution of Children as Adults
ACTION ALERT
Please Act Today to Help Pass House Bill 1271
Limit the prosecution of children as adults
Please contact the following legislators today!
HB 1271 makes important changes regarding the circumstances by which a child can be charged as an adult and prosecuted in adult criminal court. Under current law, juveniles who are at least 14 years old and who are charged with certain serious crimes may be prosecuted in adult court at the discretion of the District Attorney, a process known as direct file.
HB 1271 makes a number of changes to direct file and is being sponsored by Representatives BJ Nikkel (R-Loveland), Beth McCann (D-Denver), and Claire Levy (D-Boulder) and Senator Angela Giron (D-Pueblo).
HB 1271 would:
- limit the offenses for which a juvenile could be eligible for direct file to only the most serious and repeat violent offenses (specifically, class 1 or 2 felonies, violent sex offenses, and crimes of violence committed by prior violent juvenile offenders)
- raise the minimum age to 16 years old
- require that a Judge remand a case back to juvenile court if, after a preliminary hearing, the Judge does not find probable cause for a direct-file offense or if such an offense is dismissed at a later date.
- For cases that are direct filed, the child is permitted to file a motion with the district court to have the case transferred to juvenile court. The Judge would make the decision whether the child should be prosecuted as a juvenile or an adult.
- In cases where the Judge transferred the case to juvenile court and the child was sentenced as a juvenile, the child’s conviction could be expunged, like other juvenile records.
On March 8, 2012, HB 1271 passed the House Judiciary Committee with bi-partisan support on a vote of 9-2 but there is considerable opposition to this bill from the District Attorney’s Council.
The bill will next be heard in House Appropriations Committee and could be heard any day. Please contact these members of the House Appropriations Committee and ask them for their support. If you don't know who your legislator is go to VOTE SMART and enter your nine-digit zip code. If you don't know your nine-digit zip code go to Zip Code look-up.
